D1NZ 2016 Round 3 Taupo - Event Report

A score to settle with Taupo Raceway
Round 3 of the D1NZ Championship saw us return back to Taupo Motorsport Park. Last time we were at Taupo (2013/2014 Season), we blew a motor during practice on competition day, so had a massive score to settle.

Day one saw a good day of practice. And then into qualifying. Brad struggles with staying calm when it comes qualifying, putting a heap of pressure on himself. Once again, his qualifying runs did not reflect his runs during practice. Qualifying him in 20th spot.

Day 2 meant battles! Qualifying 20th meant were up against Drew Donovan in the Top32. Drew has been driving well all season, so it wasn't going to be easy. However, the BSR 350z is showing some real pace this season.

The first battle, Drew leads first being the higher qualifier. Brads chase was strong, and he was hard on his tail. Unfortunately switching into the last corner, Brad gets lost in the smoke, switching too earlier and goes into a spin. This giving Drew a 10/0 advantage.

The second battle Brad leads the way. The BSR 350z is just to quick for Drew Donavan, Brads pulls away with a textbook run. However it's to little to late, and while Brad took the advantage on this run it wasn't enough to outweigh the 10/0 of the run before
Its off to Hampton Downs next for Round 4, a track familiar to us all.
Thanks to the boys Randal & Brendy. For another fun & relaxing weekends racing and letting me keep my head in the game!
